Is your attention span shorter than a goldfish's?

I don't know how they figured this out - or if it's even true - but the point is, in our fast-moving world, our attention spans are short. We're constantly being bombarded by another text, another person in our office, another task to do...

So what does this have to do with branding?

Your website better be functioning at a high level that allows me, the visitor, to find what I’m looking for - NOW. Or I'll hit the Back button and be on to the next search result.

In 6 seconds, your homepage visitors should be able to answer the following questions:

Does it pique my curiosity?

If we are supposedly no better at focusing than a goldfish, we better have a great customer experience. Imagery, headings, design should guide your visitor to the next step, like "Book a Call" or "Sign Up for a Workshop."

Resist getting all "wiz-bang" with the design because this can easily distract them from your real message. 

Who are you and what are you selling?

Within the first few seconds of landing on the page, your logo, banner image, tagline, and headings should tell your visitor who you are and what you are offering to help people solve a problem. 

What’s the next step? 

Guide them where you want them to go. Make your website a marketing machine, not just a pretty online brochure. Turn visitors into leads. 

A clear call to action that tells website visitors where to go to buy, fill out a form, or whatever action you would like them to perform, is a critical aspect of making sure your website is successful.

Would they share it? 

Sharing great services is the norm, and who doesn’t love a recommendation from a trusted source. Is your website design so awesome that visitors want to tell others about you? Can a visitor repeat what you are about because your tagline is clear and makes sense?
